vangeli

Zaneta Vangeli is a multimedia artist who works with painting, objects, photography, video and film. Archive 1 is an accumulation of ink-jet prints and video art. Her main interest is focused on the interactivity of the individual and collective consciousness, on the deconstruction of some myths of the Western Balkans and on the (attempt of the) transcendence of the dualism between the sacred and the profane. The Cartesian dualism Cogito ergo sum is morphing in her works into Interruptio Cogitandi (the interruption of thinking) as a perceived fact in the socio-cultural and political context she is living in.

Vangeli has had solo exhibitions in Skopje, Frankfurt/M., Cologne, New York, Stockholm and participated at various group exhibitions and film festivals since the early 90’s including: Skopje International Film Festival, Skopje 2006, 7th Buenos Aires International Independent Film Festival, 2005, 1st Berlin Photography Festival, After the Fact, Martin Gropius Bau, Berlin 2005, Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival, 2004, 50th International Art Exhibition, Dreams and Conflicts, The Dictatorship of the Viewer, La Biennale di Venezia, Macedonian Pavillion, Venice 2003, Blood & Honey, Kunst der Gegenwart, Sammlung Essl, Vienna 2003, 59. Mostra Internazionale d’Arte Cinematografica, world premiere of the experimental feature The Judge, Section: New Territories, Venice 2002.
